Amalga Systems is looking for an IT Consultant in Bethesda, MD.

Job Description

  • Develop J2EE, Ruby on Rails, VB .NET, or C# systems with Oracle, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL
  • Create reports using SQL Server Reporting Services or Cognos
  • Test existing systems
  • Work with the testing team on various testing issues such as regression testing scripts
  • Work with the deployment team on deployment, version control, configuration management, and deployment scripts
  • Document requirements
  • Provide technical support to business users
  • Administer and monitor computer servers and network routers
  • Write Linux scripts to automate cron jobs

Required Skills

  • 1/2 year of full-time or part-time experience
  • Linux Shell Scripts
  • XML, JavaScript, JSP, and SQL
  • Java/JSP or C#/ASP
  • Agile Development Methodology, UML, and Design Patterns
  • Functional Testing
  • Good written and verbal communication skills

Education

  • B.S. in Computer Science
  • M.S. in Computer Science (Optional)

Optional Skills

  • IT Security, Application Security, Network Security, System Security
  • VB, PHP
  • MySQL
  • IBM Websphere
  • SQL Server Reporting Service or Cognos
  • Object and Data Modeling
  • Knowledge of VMWare
